VP of Platform Engineering
Come and build a sustainable and robust digital platform with us!
Join us at Kivra! At Kivra, we are building services that connect over 6 million people with more than 50 000 senders in both the private and public sector. We provide a safe and accessible digital infrastructure that everyone in Sweden can trust and use.
Now we’re looking for a VP of Platform Engineering to lead the next chapter of our technical journey — ensuring that Kivra continues to scale securely, reliably, and sustainably.
About the role
As VP of Platform Engineering, you’ll lead and grow the teams that design, build, and operate Kivra’s technical foundation.
You’ll be responsible for our core platform, ensuring that our services are robust, scalable, and built to handle millions of secure digital interactions every day.
You’ll manage and coach several engineering managers and technical leads — fostering a culture of learning, ownership, and craftsmanship. You’ll also play an active role in strategic architecture discussions, infrastructure modernization, and hands-on technical direction. You will report to and partner up with our CTO.
At Kivra, our Platform Engineering organization supports the entire product ecosystem, enabling fast and reliable development across our domains and cross-functional teams. This role is both strategic and hands-on, combining a people-first mindset with technical excellence.
What you’ll do
Define and drive the vision and roadmap for Kivra’s platform — across infrastructure data and core services.
Lead and develop multiple engineering teams, ensuring they are happy, motivated, and empowered to grow.
Mentor engineering managers and developers, reinforcing high-quality engineering practices and a collaborative mindset.
Provide technical direction and ensure best practices in reliability, scalability, and security.
Foster a “You build it - You own it”-culture based on continuous improvement, enabling automation, observability and operational excellence.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and infrastructure teams in order to ensure that platform capabilities align with Kivra’s business and user needs.
Guide architectural decisions across backend and infrastructure domains, using technologies like Erlang, Elixir, Go, Kubernetes, and GCP.
Contribute to technical discussions and, lead by example — by participating in design reviews, operational incidents, and key technical initiatives.
About you
Knowledge is important, but so is attitude!
Kivra’s culture is rooted in collaboration, trust and the drive to build high-quality products. We believe that great people build great things together. As VP of Platform Engineering, you’ll have a significant impact on how our teams work — enabling a culture built on collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement.
We believe you:
Have extensive experience leading platform, infrastructure, or backend engineering teams in complex environments.
Have a strong technical foundation, ideally with experience in Erlang/Elixir, Go, Kubernetes and cloud platforms (GCP/AWS).
Are a hands-on leader who can support your teams with technical direction, trade-offs and system architecture.
Are passionate about building reliable, secure, and scalable systems, and value simplicity and automation.
Are a strategic thinker who can align technical decisions with long-term business goals.
Thrive in agile and DevOps environments, and believe in short feedback loops, continuous delivery, and learning.
Communicate clearly and empathetically — with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
It’s also a plus if you have previous experience working in regulated or security-sensitive domains (fintech, govtech, digital identity).
What we offer
Kivra offers a role in a caring and committed team, in a company that is growing and continuously innovating. You’ll join a warm and friendly culture that thrives on collaboration and teamwork. You will be involved in shaping and influencing a product currently used by more than half of Sweden’s population. We offer the flexibility that life sometimes requires, but we believe that collaboration and value creation happens best when we sit and work together from our office in central Stockholm. Fluency in English is required; Swedish is a plus but not required. We are unable to sponsor new work permits, but can sponsor/renew existing permits.
We offer competitive remuneration and great benefits. Read more about our core values and benefits here: https://jobs.kivra.dev/!

About Kivra AB
Kivra is a better place for viktigheter. It was 2011, and things were as they’ve always been. Trees became pulp that became bills and flyers. The mail was picked up in small cars and then driven out to small post boxes – just as they always were. But wait a second. Was there really no better way, a bunch of digital innovators asked themselves. There was. They founded Kivra, which soon became something much bigger. We’ve evolved from a digital mailbox to a one stop shop for your important stuff. But it doesn’t end there. Along with our main owners 41 Invest and FAM, we’re constantly finding new smart ways to improve life – for you, society and nature.
