Financial Data Engineer
Come and build a reliable digital infrastructure with us!
Are you our next Financial Data Engineer?
In short: you will help turn finance into an engineered system rather than a collection of spreadsheets and routines.
Are you a finance professional who would rather turn a manual process into code than repeat it one more time? Do you believe finance should be built, not maintained? At Kivra, we’re re-engineering how finance works from the ground up and we’re looking for someone who wants to help build the future version of it.
This role is not about running existing processes more efficiently. It’s about questioning why they exist at all, redesigning them, and automating them end-to-end. You’ll sit at the intersection of finance, data engineering, and applied AI, with a mandate to turn finance into software.
At Kivra, we serve more than 6 million people by providing a secure, trusted digital infrastructure for important communication in Sweden. We replace paper with digital and now we’re doing the same inside our finance function.
What you’ll be doing
We are a small finance team with a clear ambition: to build a world-class, automation-first finance function. You’ll work hands-on with data, systems, and stakeholders across the organisation to design scalable, auditable and transparent financial processes.
We work as a team, but you will be responsible for:
Designing and building automated accounting and consolidation workflows — from raw data to booked transactions.
Turning manual controls into systematic and code-based controls that run continuously.
Re-architecting month-end close and consolidation to be faster, more reliable, and less human-dependent.
Translating financial and operational data into decision-ready insights.
Exploring and implementing AI/ML-based solutions where they actually add value and not hype.
Building automated management reporting and profitability models that connect financial and operational data, enabling real-time insight into performance, drivers, and unit economics.
In short: you will help turn finance into an engineered system rather than a collection of spreadsheets and routines.
Who we’re looking for
We care less about titles and more about what you have done, what problems you’ve solved and your ability to go into the details. You understand accounting and finance well enough to abstract them into logic, rules, data models and you prefer building systems over running routines.
We think that you:
Have 5+ years of experience solving complex, data-heavy problems in tech-driven environments, where progress is made by building, testing, and improving systems — not by writing decks.
Hold at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent academic background).
Have a solid understanding of accounting, consolidation, and financial processes not necessarily as a practitioner, but as someone who can model, automate, and redesign them.
Advanced SQL skills with an ability to navigate large data sets.
Have experience using modern AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) as part of your daily problem-solving and development workflow.
Have hands-on experience building and using BI solutions (e.g. Tableau, Hex or similar) to automate reporting, analyse performance, and make data accessible to the business.
Think quantitatively and structurally, with a strong sense for business logic, incentives, and unit economics.
Can take ambiguous problems from concept to production by starting small, iterating fast, and continuously improving — while ensuring solutions hold up under scrutiny, scale, and audit.
Are curious, opinionated, and collaborative, with a low tolerance for manual work and a high bar for quality.

About Kivra AB
Kivra is a better place for viktigheter. It was 2011, and things were as they’ve always been. Trees became pulp that became bills and flyers. The mail was picked up in small cars and then driven out to small post boxes – just as they always were. But wait a second. Was there really no better way, a bunch of digital innovators asked themselves. There was. They founded Kivra, which soon became something much bigger. We’ve evolved from a digital mailbox to a one stop shop for your important stuff. But it doesn’t end there. Along with our main owners 41 Invest and FAM, we’re constantly finding new smart ways to improve life – for you, society and nature.
